Simon Sinek talks about starting with “why”. As the New Year starts, I wanted to make sure I took the time to get clarity on why my career coaching practice matters. I refer to my blog, but also the ethos of my career coaching practice by the name “Step Out of the Race.” Let me know what you think. Did I capture the “why”?
Why Step Out of the Race matters:
Step out of the race matters because life is short. It matters because doing exceptional, interesting things is easier than you believe.
It matters because doing something you don’t want to do, to buy things you don’t need, to impress people you don’t like, is a giant waste of the precious little time that we have.
Stepping out of the race is about doing something that makes a difference in the world and leaving the world a better place than you found it.
It is about cultivating relationships and valuing the people in our lives.
It is about having control over your time and the ability to fully engage and be totally present in the things you choose to do.
Stepping out of the race is about recognizing that money is a means to an end, not an end in and of itself.
It is about cherishing the moments that matter in life: the smiles, the hugs, and the big accomplishments.
It is about appreciating the journey and keeping your eye on the destination.
Stepping out of the race matters because it is time to focus on your dreams, not someone else’s dreams for you.
It is about taking action to live your unique life.
