Despite all the things going wrong in the world, we still have a lot to be grateful for…
There are a lot of things that aren’t going well in the world, and as I periodically open my Facebook feed or read the news, I feel I am reminded of that to the point of creating some actual stress.
Yet there are many, many more things that are going right in the world.
Each evening I try and reflect on three things that went well during the day as a way to increase my focus on what is going right.
Last night those three things were:
- A really positive meeting with a former colleague that may have identified a new business opportunity.
- Reading sailing stories to my son until he fell asleep next to me.
- Light traffic on the way to work.
As you can see, none of these things is particularly monumental… but they are still small things to be grateful for.
I find, and research validates, that by trying to focus daily on 3 things that went well, I stay more positive overall.
Thanksgiving represents a day for us to be focused on these positive aspects of our lives, and to celebrate them with our friends and family.
I want to wish you and your family a wonderful Thanksgiving.
Sincerely,
George
